FNB Drak Music Experience set to take Drak to the next level

FBDrakMusicExperienceLogo800Celebrating its 25th anniversary, the popular N3TC Drak Challenge Canoe Marathon on 20 and 21 January has been taken to a new level by the introduction of the FNB Drak Music Experience concert on the Saturday afternoon headlining the hugely popular local singer songwriter Matthew Mole.

The concert is designed to integrate the large community of athletes and their families visiting the Underberg/Himeville area for the popular canoeing weekend, the Euro Steel Drak Descent mountain bikers and GWK Sani Spoors Run The River trail runners, with the local community in an afternoon of entertainment at the Underberg Country Club.

Staged by Impi Concept Events, the organisers of Splashy Fen, the concert will start at 2pm with a number of bands including the popular Durban band The Kickstands, Seb Goldswain and the hip blue-billy folk pop band Georgetown before Matthew Mole takes to the stage to perform his best known hits at around 5:30pm. The festivities will continue into the evening with a DJ entertaining the revellers.

FNB Business said it was proud to be part of the N3TC Drak 2018 by sponsoring the FNB Drak Music Experience.

FNB Business said that the sponsorship forms part of their ongoing strategy to support local and community events that focus on a healthy lifestyle, family involvement and the enrichment of the communities where the events take place.

The FNB Drak Music Experience is a picnic style concert where families can come together and enjoy some great music from top South African bands like Matthew Mole and Georgetown in the UnderbergMatthew Mole Album Art-001--2.

Entry to the concert will be free for all athletes registered for the canoeing, mountain biking and trail running events through the armbands that they will receive in their race packs – one for themselves and one for their seconder, while public tickets will cost R30.

A big crowd is expected to attend the FNB Drak Music Experience, and organisers will cap attendance at 3000 people to safeguard the quality of the experience for every concert-goer.

With the N3TC Drak Challenge well established amongst the Big Three canoeing events in South Africa, the mountain-biking and trail running events have been more recent additions to the weekend which sees thousands of sport-lovers converging on the Southern Drakensberg region.

The FNB Drak Music Experience is being seen as the ‘missing piece of the puzzle’ that will allow the athletes in these three different events to get together and enjoy the local hospitality in Underberg with some of the locals.
